How to Edit and Delete Forecasts

This guide covers how to edit forecast details, close outdated forecasts, and delete forecasts that were created in error. Where possible, close a forecast instead of deleting it to maintain your project records.

Before You Start

• Edit permissions for the project
• Updated cost information and supporting documentation (if applicable)

Edit a Forecast

Go to the Forecast Tab

1. Go to Cost in the side navigation bar.
2. Click the Forecast tab at the top of the page.

Change Forecast Details

1. Click the Action button (...) next to the forecast you want to change.
2. Select Edit Forecast from the drop-down menu.
3. Change the necessary details in the Edit Forecast window.
4. Click Update to save your changes — the Forecast Final Cost recalculates automatically.

Close a Forecast

Close a forecast to keep it in your project records without it affecting the Forecast Final Cost.

1. Click the Action button (...) next to the forecast you want to close.
2. Select Edit Forecast from the drop-down menu.
3. Click the Status drop-down menu.
4. Select Close.
5. Click Update — the closed forecast no longer affects the Forecast Final Cost but remains available for review and audit.

Delete a Forecast

Only delete forecasts that were created in error. This action cannot be undone.

1. Click the Action button (...) next to the forecast you want to delete.
2. Select Delete Forecast from the drop-down menu.
3. Click Delete to confirm.

Update a Risk-Based Forecast After Deletion

If you delete a risk-based forecast, you need to update it separately in the Risk module.

1. Click the Action button (...) next to the risk.
2. Select Go to Risk from the drop-down menu.
3. Change the risk-based forecast details in the Risk module.

Q: How do I know if a forecast is risk-based?

Check the forecast source or look for risk indicators in the forecast details. Risk-based forecasts are linked to items in the Risk module.

Q: What if my Forecast Final Cost seems inaccurate after making changes?

Check all active forecasts to make sure the amounts are correct. Make sure closed forecasts are not included in the calculations.
