Project Settings: Managing User Access
The User Management feature in Project Settings allows you to invite team members to your projects, whether they already have existing accounts or need to create new ones. This streamlines collaboration by providing a centralized location to control project access.
Overview
Mastt's enhanced User Management feature enables you to invite team members to your projects regardless of whether they already have accounts in your workspace, exist in different workspaces, or are completely new to the platform. This flexibility supports cross-organizational collaboration and makes it easier to build comprehensive project teams.
Prerequisites
- Organization Admin or Project Administrator permissions
- Access to the Project Settings area
- Email addresses of team members you wish to invite
- Understanding of the permission levels you want to assign

- Project Settings - The configuration area for individual projects where you can manage various project parameters
- User Management - The specific tab within Project Settings that controls who has access to your project
- Workspace - An organizational container in Mastt that holds projects and users for a specific company or department
- Cross-workspace Access - The ability for users to access projects in multiple workspaces without creating multiple accounts
- Standard User - The default permission level assigned to newly invited users
- Active Status - Indicates a user who has a user account and has added to the project
- Pending Status - Indicates a user who has been invited but hasn't yet completed their account setup or accepted the invitation
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Accessing the User Management Feature
- Navigate to your Project screen
- Locate the project tile for which you want to manage users
- Click the three dots at the bottom of the project tile
- Select Project Settings from the dropdown menu
- Click on the User Management tab
2. Managing User Invitations

Inviting Existing Account Users
- Click on the Enter email or invite dropdown
- Browse the list of available users with existing accounts
- Select the user(s) you wish to add to your project
- Click Invite Users to send the invitation
- The invited user will appear in your user list with an Active status
- Inviting New Users Without Accounts
- Click on the Enter email or invite dropdown
- Type the email address of the person you wish to invite
- Press Enter after typing the email address
- Click Invite to send the invitation
- The invited user will appear in your user list with a Pending status

Inviting Multiple Users from Different Workspaces including New Users
- Click on the Enter email or invite dropdown
- Type the email address of the user who exists in a different workspace or the email address of a new user
- Press Enter after typing the email address
- Continue adding more users if needed (you can invite multiple users at once)
- Click Invite Users to send the invitation(s)
- Their details will appear in your user list once invited with their corresponding statuses.
3. User Account Creation Process (For New Users)
- The invited user receives an email with the subject "[Your Name] invited you to Mastt"
- The email includes a Get Started link
- Upon clicking the link, the user is directed to an account creation page
- The user enters their first name, last name, and creates a password
- After clicking Confirm, their account is created
- Their status in your project's User Management tab automatically changes from Pending to Active
4. Resend Invite or Remove a User

Find the user in the list.

Click the three dots at the end of their row.

Select Resend Invite to send another invitation email or, select Remove to immediately remove them from the project.
The removed user will no longer have access to the project, but their Mastt account remains active
Best Practices
- Use bulk invitations when setting up new projects to save time
- Inform users in advance that they'll be receiving invitations to join your project
- Check user statuses periodically to ensure invitations are being accepted
- Remove users promptly when they no longer require access to maintain project security
- Review user access lists regularly as part of project governance
Troubleshooting
- Issue: User from different workspace cannot see the project after accepting invitation
- Solution: Check if their name is listed after accepting the invite. Or contact Customer Support to manually add the user to the project.
- Issue: Cannot change permission level for a new user
- Solution: Wait until the user has created their account, then adjust their permission level
Tips and Notes
- The system automatically determines if an invited email belongs to an existing user or requires a new account
- Existing users receive a simplified email notifying them of new project access
- New users receive a more comprehensive email with workspace invitation and account creation
- Permission levels can only be modified after a new user has completed their account setup
- Users can belong to multiple workspaces while maintaining a single Mastt account
