Getting Started: Navigating Mastt

Learn Mastt's basic navigation in your first 15 minutes to confidently access projects and find what you need.

Overview

Starting with a new project management platform can feel overwhelming, but Mastt is designed to be intuitive from day one. This guide will teach you the essential navigation skills to access your projects, understand the main interface elements, and perform basic tasks confidently.

By mastering these fundamentals, you'll quickly find what you need and stay organized throughout your project lifecycle, whether managing a single project or multiple programs.

Prerequisites

  • Active Mastt account with login credentials
  • Assignment to at least one project or program by your Organization Admin

Key Concepts

  • Projects Page - Your home base where all assigned projects are displayed as visual cards
  • Project Tiles - Visual cards that display your assigned projects and provide quick access to project details and actions
  • Program Tiles - Visual cards that show your assigned programs and allow navigation to program-level information
  • Navigation Bar - Left-side menu that appears within projects and programs, providing access to all available modules
  • Action Button - The three-dot menu (⋮ or ...) that appears next to items, offering contextual actions and shortcuts
  • Module - Individual sections of Mastt functionality such as Cost, Risk, Schedule, and Dashboard

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Accessing your Projects and Programs

  • Log into your Mastt account using your credentials
  • You'll automatically arrive at the Home page, which displays all your Favourites and Projects assigned to you

Don't see any projects? Contact your organization admin to get assigned to projects.

  • To access your projects or programs, click Projects or Programs from the main navigation
  • Each project or program appears as a tile showing key information
  • Click any tile to enter that specific project or program

2. Using project and program tiles

  • To access quick shortcuts, click the action button (...) in the bottom-left corner of any tile
  • Select your desired action from the dropdown menu that appears
  • The available actions will vary based on your permissions and the specific project or program
  • Click the star icon below the action button to add the project to your Favourites

 

3. Navigating within Projects and Programs

  • Once inside a project or program, locate the navigation bar on the left side of your screen
  • The navigation bar displays all available modules for that project or program
  • Click any module name to access that section:
    • Dashboard - View customizable dashboards and key project metrics
    • Cost - Track financial information, budgets, and expenses
    • Risk - Log and monitor project risks and mitigation strategies
    • Schedule - Manage project timelines and track milestones
    • Audit Log - Review all project changes and modifications
    • Docs - Store and manage project documentation, files, and knowledge base
    • Snapshots - Access historical project data and previous versions
    • Tasks - Create, assign, and track project tasks and deliverables
    • Settings - Configure project preferences and setup options

4. Working with common interface elements

  • Creating new items:
    • Look for the + button in any module where you want to add content
    • Click buttons with specific labels like "+ Add Tiles" or "+ New Risk"
    • Complete all required form fields in the dialog that opens
    • Click Save to create the new item
  • Modifying existing items:
    • Locate the item you want to modify
    • Click the action button (⋮ or ⋯) next to the item
    • Select your desired action from the dropdown menu
    • Follow the prompts to complete your modification

Best Practices

  • Use the action buttons (⋮ or ⋯) on project tiles for quick access to common tasks
  • Start each day with the Dashboard module to get an overview of project status
  • Add frequently accessed projects to your Favourites for quicker daily access
  • Check Programs regularly if you work with multiple projects to stay updated on program-level changes
  • Use the Dashboard module as your starting point each day to get an overview of project status

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Cannot see a project or program you expect to access
    • Solution: Contact your Organization Admin to request access to the specific project or program
  • Issue: Missing modules in the navigation bar
    • Solution: Contact your project administrator to request access to additional modules
  • Issue: Clicked something and now you're lost in the interface
    • Solution: Click Mastt logo in the top-left of the screen to return to your starting point

Tips and Notes

  • The action button (⋮ or ...) appears consistently throughout Mastt - look for it whenever you need to perform actions on items
  • Module visibility depends on your specific permissions - don't worry if you don't see all available modules
  • Watch for contextual labels on buttons that explain exactly what you're adding (e.g., "Add Risk" vs. "Add Cost Item")
  • The interface maintains consistency across all modules, so once you learn the navigation pattern, it applies everywhere
