How to Use Mastt AI with Documents

Upload and analyze documents to get instant insights for your construction projects

Upload PDF documents into the Mastt AI Assistant and get instant answers on contracts, reports, specifications, and other construction files. The Mastt AI Assistant extracts key information and answers your questions directly from the document content.

Before You Start

  • Have your PDF document ready
  • Consider what specific information you want to extract from the document

Upload Your Document

  1. Click the AI Assistant icon in the left sidebar
  2. Click the attachment icon (paperclip) next to the Acting as dropdown
  3. Select Upload new file and choose your PDF from your computer
  4. Wait for the upload to complete

To reuse a previously uploaded document, click the attachment icon and select Recent documents to browse files you have already processed.

The uploaded document appears in the Document panel on the right side of the chat. Larger files may take a few minutes to process.

Uploaded documents are stored in the project's Documents module and are visible to other users on that project.

Ask Questions About Your Document

When you upload a document, the Mastt AI Assistant displays Explore prompt cards with suggested actions you can click.

  1. Select a category pill such as Document, Contracts, Reporting, or Schedule to filter available prompts
  2. Click an Explore prompt card to send it to the Mastt AI Assistant, or type your own question in the Ask me anything field
  3. Review the response in the chat — responses may include structured headings, tables, and bullet points extracted from your document
  4. Check the Document panel on the right to verify which document was referenced
  5. Ask follow-up questions as needed

Always verify important details against the source document before using them in official decisions.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: What if the Mastt AI Assistant doesn't understand my document properly?

Try asking more specific questions about particular sections or rephrase your query. If responses remain inaccurate, re-upload the document and try again — the file may not have processed correctly the first time.

Q: Why can't I see my uploaded document in other chats?

Documents are specific to each chat session. To use the same document again, go back to an existing chat with that document from the chat history, or start a new chat and re-upload the document.

Q: How do I delete an uploaded document?

Navigate to the Documents module, locate the file by name, click the Action button, and select Delete. Delete the related chat thread first, as chatting in a thread where the document has been removed may cause errors.
