Table Customization
Mastt allows you to customize how your project data is displayed, ensuring you see only the information that matters most to you and your stakeholders. This feature helps you create tailored views that can be easily exported or shared, saving time and improving communication.
Key Concepts
- Tables - Structured displays of your project data that can be customized to show specific information.
- Columns - Individual data fields that can be shown, hidden, resized, or reordered.
- Filters - Criteria that determine which data records are displayed.
- Sorting - Organizing data in ascending or descending order based on specific columns.
Step-by-Step Guide
Customizing Columns
Adjust which columns appear in your table to focus on the most relevant information for your reporting needs.
- Navigate to your desired project page
- Click the Columns button in the top right corner of the table
- Alternatively, hover over any column header and click the three dots menu (...)
- In the column selection panel:
- Check boxes to show columns
- Uncheck boxes to hide columns
- Click Apply to save your changes
You can also:
- Resize columns by dragging the divider between column headers
- Reorder columns by dragging the column header to a new position
- Pin important columns to the left or right of the table:
- Hover over the column header
- Click the three dots menu (...)
- Select Pin to left or Pin to right
- To unpin, use the same menu and select Unpin
Your column configuration will remain in place until you change it, allowing for consistent viewing across sessions.
Filtering and Sorting Data
Apply filters and sorting to quickly find the information you need, particularly useful for large projects with extensive data.
To Filter Data:
- Click the Filter button at the top of the table
- Select the column you want to filter on
- Choose a condition operator (Contains, Equals, <, >, etc.)
- Enter the filter value
- For example, to show only budget items over $500,000:
- Select "Budget" column
- Choose ">" operator
- Enter "500000"
- For example, to show only budget items over $500,000:
- Click Apply
You can add multiple filters to narrow your results further, using either And or Or.
To remove filters:
- Click the Filter button
- Select Remove all
- Click Apply
To Sort Data:
- Hover over the column header you want to sort by
- Click the three dots menu (...)
- Select Sort ascending or Sort descending
- Alternatively, click the arrow icon in the column header to toggle sorting
You can sort by multiple columns by holding the Shift key while selecting additional columns to sort.
Dashboard Customization
Personalize dashboard table tiles to create effective visual reports for stakeholders.
- Navigate to your project dashboard
- Locate the table tile you want to customize
- Click the three dots menu (...) in the top right corner of the tile
- Select Adjust Columns to change which Columns are displayed, and Filter to apply filters to the table
- Click Done to apply your changes
You can customize columns, apply filters, and sort data using the same methods described above. Make sure you Save your Dashboard to ensure the changes have been saved. These will persist until manually changed
Best Practices
- Start with the standard view, then remove unnecessary columns to reduce clutter
- Pin key identifier columns (e.g., Project Name, ID) to the left for easier reference
- Create different column configurations for different reporting scenarios
- Use filters to focus on high-value or at-risk items in construction projects
Troubleshooting
Column won't resize properly
- Symptom: Column width changes but reverts or doesn't maintain new size
- Cause: Minimum width requirements or browser display issues
- Solution: Try double-clicking the column divider for auto-fit, or refresh the page and try again
Filters not showing expected results
- Symptom: Data missing despite correct filter settings
- Cause: Multiple filters may be conflicting or data format issues
- Solution: Remove all filters and add them back one by one; check for proper number formatting
Tips:
- Save time by hiding columns irrelevant to your current task
- For financial reporting, pin budget columns for easy reference while scrolling
- Use filters to quickly identify budget items exceeding thresholds, helping catch potential cost overruns early
Note: Table customizations are specific to your user account and will not affect how other team members view the data, unless they are saved on a Dashboard. This will set the customizations for that Dashboard only.
