Using the Audit Log and Advanced Features in Mastt

Mastt offers advanced features including the Audit Log for tracking all changes made in your project, Snapshots for capturing project data at specific points in time, and Project Settings for customizing your project configuration. These tools enhance accountability, reporting, and project personalization.

Step-by-Step Guide to Advanced Features

Using the Audit Log

1. Understanding the Audit Log
  • The Audit Log tracks who made any change in the system
  • It provides accountability and transparency
  • Access it from the sidebar navigation
2. Searching the Audit Log
  • Search for a specific record by entering search terms
  • Filter by record type:
    • Adjustments
    • Budget
    • Cash Flow
    • Contract
    • Forecast
    • Payment
    • Variation
3. Date Filtering
  • Set custom date ranges to narrow your search
  • Use preset date options or define your own range
  • Default view shows the most recent month
4. Analyzing Audit Records
  • Each entry shows:
    • What was changed
    • Who made the change
    • When the change occurred
    • Details of the change

Creating and Using Snapshots

1. Understanding Snapshots
  • Snapshots preserve a copy of your project at a specific point in time
  • They're useful for:
    • Creating period-end reports
    • Comparing project status over time
    • Preserving historical data
2. Creating a Snapshot
  • Navigate to the Snapshots module from the sidebar navigation
  • Click + Take Snapshot
  • Enter a title for the snapshot (e.g., "Report May 2025")
  • Set the Current as of date
    • This doesn't affect the data captured
    • It's for reporting purposes only
3. Working with Snapshots
  • Click on a snapshot name to open it in a new tab
  • The interface changes to orange to indicate you're in a snapshot
  • Changes made in snapshots don't affect the live project
  • Changes in the live project don't affect existing snapshots
4. Navigating Between Snapshots and Live Project
  • Click Back in the top left corner to return to the Snapshots list
  • Or simply close the snapshot tab to return to your project
  • Snapshots open in new tabs for easy comparison

Configuring Project Settings

1. Accessing Project Settings
  • Click on Settings at the bottom of the sidebar navigation
  • This opens the Project Settings form
2. Name and Photo
  • Click on the Name and Photo tab
  • Enter a new name if needed
  • Click Upload Image and select a photo
  • Click Save to apply changes 
3. Project Information
  • Navigate to the Project Information tab
  • Verify your workspace (organization) is correct
  • Enter or update the project number if needed
  • Add or modify the point of contact information
  • Click Save to store your changes
4. Location
  • Select the Location tab
  • Enter the latitude and longitude manually, or
  • Type the address in the search field to auto-populate the latitude and longitude fields.
  • Click Save to confirm the location
5. Brand
  • Go to the Brand tab
  • Select your preferred font style from the dropdown options
  • Preview the outcome below to see how your choice will be displayed in payment letters.
  • Click Save to apply your branding preferences
6. User Management
  • Click on the User Management tab
  • Add users from different workspaces as needed, or
  • Invite new users without existing Mastt accounts if required

7. Custom Columns
  • If you have custom columns configured with Mastt Support
  • They will appear here for project-by-project configuration

Contact Mastt support to request additions or deletions of custom columns

Common Pitfalls and Solutions

  • Issue: Can't find specific changes in Audit Log
    • Solution: Refine your search terms or adjust the date range
  • Issue: Snapshot showing incorrect data
    • Solution: Ensure you create snapshots at the appropriate time
  • Issue: Unable to see certain settings
    • Solution: Some settings require administrator permissions
  • Issue: Changes in snapshots are not saving
    • Solution: Remember, snapshots are independent of the live project
