How to Create and Use Custom Dashboard Templates

Complete step-by-step guide for creating and applying dashboard templates in construction project management

Custom dashboard templates let you save and reuse your dashboard configurations across projects and programs. Instead of rebuilding dashboards from scratch, save your customized layouts, tiles, and settings as reusable templates. This ensures consistency across your organization and saves significant time on dashboard setup.

Before You Start

  • Prepare the dashboard you want to save with all customizations complete (tiles, layout, filters, text boxes, column settings).

Project templates only work with projects, and program templates only work with programs — they cannot be used interchangeably.

Create Your Dashboard Template

Navigate to the Dashboard

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard in the project or program where you want to create the template.
  2. Add and arrange the dashboard tiles you want included in the template.
  3. Confirm that the dashboard looks the way you want it — this layout will become the default for anyone who uses the template.

Save as a New Template

  1. Click the Action button (⋮) in the top-right corner of the Dashboard.
  2. Select Save as New Template from the dropdown.
  3. Enter a descriptive template name.
  4. Add a description (optional) — this helps others who might use the template.
  5. Set the template status to Draft or Published. Draft templates are only visible to you until you publish them.
  6. Click Save Template.

The template is now saved and available for use across your workspace.

Update an Existing Template

Edit the Dashboard

  1. Open the dashboard you want to update.
  2. Make your changes to the layout, tiles, filters, or settings.

Save the Updated Template

  1. Click the Action button (⋮) in the top-right corner of the Dashboard and select Save as Template.
  2. Select Update Existing Template — this will override the existing template with the new dashboard's tiles.
  3. Click on the template you want to update, then click Continue.
  4. Enter a new template name if required, then click Save Changes.

The existing template is now updated with your new dashboard configuration.

Apply a Template to Another Project

  1. Navigate to the project or program where you want to use the template.
  2. Click + New Dashboard, then select the Browse Templates tab.
  3. Browse or search for the template you want, then select it.
  4. Click Use Template and wait for the dashboard to generate.

The dashboard is now created with all the tiles and layout from the template. You can customize it further for the specific project if needed.

Manage Templates in Workspace Settings

Workspace Admins can manage all dashboard templates from Workspace Settings.

  1. Click your profile name in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Admin from the dropdown.
  3. Select Dashboard Templates.
  4. Select the template you want to manage.
  5. From here you can edit the template name, description, thumbnail, and published status.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Can other users in my workspace see and use my templates?

Yes. Templates you create are saved to your workspace and available to all users who are in the same workspace.

Q: Can I use a template created in one workspace in a different workspace?

Templates are tied to the workspace where they were created. However, they follow your user account, so you can apply them to any project you have access to across workspaces.
