How to Use Risk Bulk Upload

Complete guide to bulk uploading risks for construction project managers

The Risk Bulk Upload feature helps you set up projects with common risks quickly and consistently. Use this tool when you need to import multiple risks at once, ensuring all projects use the same language for similar risks and simplifying reporting across your construction portfolio.

Before you start:

  • You must have access to the project
  • The bulk upload tool only accepts files downloaded from Mastt's template
  • You cannot upload external CSV files - they must use Mastt's specific formatting

Steps

Access the Risk Module

  1. Navigate to your project and click Risk in the side navigation bar
  2. Add ?upload=true to your project URL
    • if your URL is .../projects/63fea50a6ed85e001a5d0d39/risks
    • change it to .../projects/63fea50a6ed85e001a5d0d39/risks?upload=true
  3. Press Enter to load the bulk upload tool directly

Download the Risk Register Template

  1. Once the Risk Module loads, click Bulk Upload at the top left of the page
  2. Click Download Current Register to download a CSV template file
  3. The CSV file will download to your computer with the correct formatting structure

Upload Your Risk Data

  1. Open the downloaded CSV file and add your risk information using the provided format
  2. Save the completed CSV file
  3. Return to the bulk upload page in Mastt
  4. Click Choose File and select your completed CSV file
  5. Click Read Risks from File

Review and Import

  1. Mastt will display a list of all risks from your CSV file
  2. Review the risks to ensure accuracy
  3. Choose your import option:
    • Click Add to add these risks alongside existing risks in the module
    • Click Nuke Risk Then Add to delete all existing risks and replace them with the uploaded risks

After importing, review your risk register to ensure all risks were imported correctly.

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Upload fails or shows formatting errors. Solution: Ensure you're using the CSV template downloaded from Mastt. External CSV files will not work due to specific formatting requirements
  • Problem: Some risks don't appear after upload. Solution: Check the CSV file for empty rows or missing required fields. Re-download the template and transfer your data carefully
