Understanding User Permission Levels

Essential guide to user permissions and access control for construction project managers

User permission levels control who can view and edit your construction projects in Mastt. These permissions ensure project security while giving team members appropriate access for their roles. Only Organization Admins can modify user permissions.

Permission levels explained

Read-Only User

View all project information but cannot make changes. Perfect for clients and stakeholders who need to monitor project progress without editing capabilities.

Standard User

Most common permission level for daily project work. Can access assigned projects, edit content unless marked read-only, and manage personal account settings. Ideal for team members performing regular project tasks.

Project Admin

Manages specific assigned projects with full control over project details, user management, and permissions. Best suited for project managers who need oversight of their individual projects.

Program Admin

Manages program-level settings, user access, and oversight across multiple related projects within a program. Ideal for senior project managers or program coordinators who oversee multiple interconnected projects.

Organization Admin

Complete system access including user management, program creation, all project access, and full permission control. Reserved for Mastt champions and senior administrators.

Organization Admin (Project Creator)

Same capabilities as Organization Admin plus ability to create new projects. Perfect for department heads who regularly initiate new projects.

How to assign permissions

  1. Click your name in the top right corner and select Admin
  2. Navigate to Projects and click Action button (...) beside the project
  3. Select View/Edit Users and toggle on Read Only option

Important considerations

Client access: Clients require separate organizations for security. Contact Mastt Support to set up client access properly.

Permission reviews: Regularly review user permissions, especially when team members change roles or leave projects.

Legacy roles: Program Admin and Mastt Admin roles are now called Project Admin and Organization Admin respectively.

Best practices

Start with the lowest permission level necessary for each user's role and escalate only when required. This maintains project security while ensuring team productivity. Contact your organization admin or support team when permission changes are needed.
