How to Manage Projects

Essential project management workflow for construction project administrators

This guide covers everything you need to manage projects in Mastt: viewing projects, editing details, managing users and permissions, and controlling project status. Use these processes to maintain organized project access and administration.

Before you start:

  • Ensure you have appropriate permissions (admin access required for most management tasks)
  • Know your organization structure and user roles
  • Have project details ready for any updates needed

Steps

View your projects

  1. After logging into Mastt, you'll land on your homepage showing assigned projects
  2. Alternatively, click Projects in the side navigation bar
  3. Or click your name at the top right corner, select My Profile, then click My Projects in the top navigation

Switch project view modes

  1. Click Detail View at the top right corner (below your name) to see projects in list format with more information
  2. Or click the View button to see projects as cards with thumbnails

If you don't see a project you're looking for, your Org Admin likely hasn't assigned you to that project yet. Check with them for access.

Access projects

  1. Click directly on the project title or project thumbnail to enter the project
  2. Or use the Quick links (...) beside the project name for quick links to specific sections (Dashboard, Cost, Schedule, Project Settings)

Edit project information (Admin access required)

  1. Click your name at the top right corner of the screen
  2. Click Admin (if you have admin access)
  3. Click Projects in the top navigation
  4. Locate the project you want to update in the project list
  5. Click the Action button (...) next to the project name
  6. Select Edit Project Details from the dropdown
  7. Update fields as needed (project name, project title, other details)
  8. Click Update Project button to save your modifications

Manage project users and permissions (Admin access required)

  1. From the admin area, click Projects in the top navigation
  2. Find your target project and click the Action button (...) next to it
  3. Select View/Edit User from the dropdown to open the user management modal
  4. Review all users assigned to the project with their current permissions
  5. Toggle the Read-Only switch:
    • Off: Users have normal access to all features
    • On: Users can only view data, cannot add, edit, or delete
  6. Toggle the Project Admin switch to give users administrative permissions for the specific project

If a user has read-only access at the Program level, they'll automatically be read-only for all projects in that Program.

Add or remove project users

  1. Click the Action menu on your target project
  2. Select Invite/Remove Users from the dropdown
  3. On the left side, select the organization
  4. In the center, view available users who can be added to the project
  5. To add users: Click their name in the center column - they'll move to the right column
  6. To remove users: Click their name in the right column - they'll move back to the center
  7. Click Update Project User button to save changes

Deactivate a project

  1. Click the Action button (...) next to the project you want to deactivate
  2. Select Deactivate Project from the dropdown
  3. A confirmation dialog appears asking if you're sure
  4. Click OK to confirm deactivation
  5. The project will be deactivated but not deleted (can be reactivated later if needed)

Important limitations

Regular users cannot create new projects. Submit requests to your supervisor for new projects. If your team has reached the project limit, supervisors can submit tickets through the support form.

Regular users cannot permanently delete projects. Contact your Customer Success Manager or Mastt Support with deletion requests. Once deleted, projects cannot be recovered.

Best practices

  • Regularly review project user access and permissions
  • Use descriptive project names for easy identification
  • Maintain appropriate read-only access for stakeholders
  • Document project changes and user modifications
