How to Customize Brand Colors for Letters

Complete guide to setting brand colors for change order and payment letters in construction project management

Mastt allows you to customize the color scheme for all your change order letters and payment letters. You can set brand colors at two levels: Workspace level (applies to all projects) or Project level (for individual project customization). This guide covers both methods.

Before You Start

  • Workspace level branding requires Workspace Admin permissions
  • Project level branding requires Project Admin permissions or higher
  • Have your brand hex codes ready if you want exact color matching
  • Workspace level colors apply to all existing and new projects unless overridden at the project level

Setting Brand Colors at Workspace Level

Setting brand colors at the workspace level is the most efficient approach for consistent branding across all your projects.

Access Workspace Branding Settings

  1. From the homepage, click your name in the top right corner.
  2. Select Admin from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click Workspace Details in the left navigation sidebar.
  4. Scroll down to the Branding section.
  5. Click Set Workspace Brand Preset.

The Brand Colors modal opens with preset options and fine-tune controls.

Setting a workspace preset applies the branding to all existing projects in your workspace. Ensure this is what you want before saving.

Apply a Preset or Fine-Tune Colours

Using presets:

  1. At the top of the modal, you'll see the Preset section with several color options.
  2. Click any preset to select it.
  3. The preview on the right updates immediately to show how your letters will look.

Fine-tuning individual colors:

If you need more control over your brand colors, scroll down to the Fine-Tune section.

  1. Click the color square to open the color picker or type a hex code directly into the text field.
  2. Adjust individual color settings as needed (Totals, Subtotals, Table Headers, Backgrounds, Highlights, and Labels).

If you have specific brand guidelines with hex codes, typing them directly ensures exact color matching.

Save Your Workspace Brand Colors

  1. Review the preview to confirm your colors look correct.
  2. Click the blue Save Colors button. Your workspace brand colors are now saved and will apply to all change order letters and payment letters across all projects in this workspace.

Setting Brand Colors at Project Level

Use project level branding when a specific project needs different colors from your workspace default—for example, when a client has their own brand guidelines.

Access Project Branding Settings

  1. Navigate to your project and open the Project Dashboard.
  2. Click the Settings button (cog icon) at the bottom of the left navigation sidebar.
  3. In the Project Settings modal, click the Brand tab in the left menu.
  4. Scroll down and click Customize Brand Colors.

If you see Using workspace default displayed, this means the project is currently using workspace level brand colors. Hover over the information icon to see more details about inheritance settings.

Apply a Project-Specific Preset or Fine-Tune Colors

Using presets:

  1. At the top of the modal, you'll see the Preset section.
  2. The first preset is labelled Workspace Default—this is the inherited workspace brand.
  3. Click any other preset to apply project-specific branding.
  4. The preview updates to show how your project letters will look.

Selecting a preset or making any color changes at the project level will override the workspace default for this specific project only.

Fine-tuning individual colors:

  1. Scroll down to the Fine-Tune section.
  2. Click the color square to open the color picker or type a hex code directly into the text field.

If your client has specific brand guidelines, use their exact hex codes to ensure change order and payment letters match their corporate identity.

Save Your Project Brand Colors

  1. Review the preview to confirm your colors look correct.
  2. Click the blue Done button to close the brand colors modal.
  3. Click Save on the Project Settings modal to save all project settings. Your project level brand colors are now saved and will apply to all change order letters and payment letters generated from this project.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Will workspace brand colors affect projects that already have custom branding?

No. Projects with custom brand colors will keep their project-specific settings. Workspace colors only apply to projects using the default.

Q: How do I reset a project to use workspace brand colors?

Open the project's Brand settings and select the Workspace Default preset at the beginning of the preset options. This reverts the project to inherit workspace-level branding.
