How to Remove or Disable Users
Complete guide to managing user access at workspace and project level
When team members leave a project or organization, you need to revoke their access to maintain security and compliance. Mastt lets you manage access at two levels: workspace-wide (affecting all projects) or project-specific (affecting only one project). This guide covers both approaches.
Before You Start
- Workspace-level actions require Workspace Administrator access
- Project-level actions require Project Admin or Workspace Admin permissions
Understanding Your Options
Remove (workspace level) — For Guest users. Revokes access to all projects. The user must be re-invited if needed later.
Disable (workspace level) — For Member users. Revokes access to all projects. The user can be re-enabled anytime with previous permissions intact.
Remove (project level) — For any user. Revokes access to one project only. The user can be re-added anytime.
Remove or Disable Users from Your Workspace
Use this when someone leaves the organization or needs access revoked across all projects.
Access User Management
- Click your profile name in the top-right corner of the screen
- Select Admin from the dropdown menu
- The User Management page displays all users in your workspace
Only Workspace Administrators can access this section.
Remove or Disable the User
- Locate the user in the list (use the filter option at the top-right corner if needed)
- Click the Action button next to the user's name
- Select Remove for Guest users or Disable for Member users
- Review the confirmation warning
- Click the red Remove or Disable button to confirm
Guest users are completely removed and must be re-invited if needed later. Member users are disabled and can be re-enabled anytime with their previous permissions intact.
Remove Users From a Specific Project
Use this when someone no longer needs access to one project but should keep access to your workspace. Workspace Admins always have access to any project within the workspace, even if they have been removed from the project. Learn more in Understanding User Permissions in Mastt.
Access Project Settings
You can access Project Settings in three ways:
- From the Home page: Click the Action button on the project tile and select Project Settings
- From within a project: Click the Settings icon (cog/gear) in the bottom-left corner
- From Admin (Workspace Admins only): Go to Admin > Projects, find the project, click the Action button, and select Edit
Remove the User
- In Project Settings, click User Management in the left menu
- Locate the user you want to remove
- Click the Action button beside the user's name
- Select Remove from the dropdown
- Review the confirmation message — this removes access to this project only
- Click the red Remove button to confirm
The user loses access to this project but retains their workspace membership and access to other projects.
Restore User Access
Re-enable a Disabled Member
- Go to Admin > User Management
- Find the disabled user, click the Action button, and select Enable
The user regains access with their previous permissions intact.
Re-invite a Removed Guest
- Go to Admin > User Management
- Click the Invite User button
- Complete the Account, Role, and Security tabs with the user's details
- Click Save
A new invitation is sent. You will need to configure their project-level permissions separately.
Re-add a User to a Project
- Go to Project Settings > User Management
- Enter the user's email address in the Enter email to invite field
- Select their role from the dropdown
- Click Invite Users
- Click Save

Check the Role column in the User Management list. Guests show "Guest" and Members show "Member" in this column.
Q: What happens to a user's work when they're removed?
