How to Add Custom Dashboard Templates
Complete guide to adding reusable dashboard templates for construction project management
Custom dashboard templates help you standardise reporting across all your projects and programs. Use this feature when you want to apply the same dashboard layout, filters, and customisations to multiple projects without rebuilding from scratch.
Before you start:
- Build and save the dashboard you want to use as a template
- Ensure all customisations (filters, text, column settings) are configured correctly
- Note whether this is for projects or programs (templates are specific to each type)
Steps
Prepare your dashboard URL
- Navigate to the dashboard you want to save as a template
- Copy the current URL from your browser's address bar
- Add
?template=true
to the end of the URL - Press Enter to reload the dashboard
For example, if the URL is:/projects/65cecc5221019d00261d21a2/dashboard
modify it to /projects/65cecc5221019d00261d21a2/dashboard?template=true
Save as template
-
Click the Actions button(
) in the top right corner of your screen
-
Select either Save as Project Dashboard Template or Save as Program Dashboard Template
-
Choose to either:
- Enter a new template name in the form field
- Select an existing template to override from the dropdown
-
Click Save as Project Template or Save as Program Template
Important notes
- Project dashboard templates only work with projects
- Program dashboard templates only work with programs
- Templates save all customisations including filters, text additions, and column settings
- Templates are workspace-specific and not accessible to other workspaces
- Overriding an existing template doesn't affect dashboards already created with the old template
What happens next
Your template is now available when creating new dashboards. Team members in your workspace can apply this standardised template to quickly set up consistent reporting across projects and programs.
Troubleshooting
- Problem: Actions button doesn't show template save options. Solution: Ensure you've added
?template=true
to the URL. The template parameter must be active for the save options to appear. - Problem: Can't find my saved template when creating new dashboards. Solution: Verify you're creating the correct dashboard type. Project templates only appear when creating project dashboards, and program templates only appear for program dashboards.
- Problem: Template doesn't include all my customisations. Solution: Save your dashboard completely before converting to a template. Return to edit mode, save all changes, then follow the template creation process again.
