How to Edit and Delete Budgets and Sub-Budgets
Simple guide to modify and remove budgets in construction project management
Learn how to edit existing budget details and safely remove budgets from your Mastt projects. This guide covers the essential steps for maintaining your project's budget structure.
Before You Start:
- Ensure that a budget has been previously set up for the project.
Editing Budgets and Sub Budgets
Navigate to Budget Management
- Go to your Projects page and select your project
- From the navigation menu, click on the Cost Module
- Click on Budgets in the upper tabs

- Select Budgets from the dropdown menu to access the budget register
Edit Budget or Sub-budget
- Locate the budget you want to modify in the budget register
- Click the three dots next to the budget you want to edit
- Select Edit This Budget or Edit This Sub Budget from the menu

- The Budget or Sub Budget form will appear with current details populated
- Make your necessary changes to:
- Budget name
- Original amount
- Status (Draft, Approved, or Closed)
- Budget tags
- Click Save to confirm your changes
When editing budgets or sub-budgets, remember that status changes affect functionality
- Draft: Not functional until approved
- Approved: Fully functional for contract creation
- Closed: No functionality available
Deleting Budgets and Sub Budgets
- In the budget register, locate the budget or sub budget you want to remove
- Click the three dots next to the budget
- Select Delete Budget or Sub-budget from the menu
- A confirmation pop-up will appear

- Click Delete to permanently remove the budget
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: What if the delete button is greyed out or not working?
This means the budget has sub-budgets, contracts, variations, or forecasts attached to it. You must first remove or reassign all dependent items before deleting the parent budget.
