How to Edit and Delete Budgets and Sub-Budgets

Learn how to modify and remove budgets and sub-budgets in your project, ensuring accurate financial management.

Prerequisites 

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Access to your Mastt project with edit permissions.
  • An existing budget or subbudget in your project.
  • Clear details of the budget to edit or delete.

Subbudgets: Breakdown of a budget into specific categories or project phases.

Editing Budgets: Modifying financial allocations within the budget.

Deleting Budgets: Permanently removing a budget or subbudget from the system.

Permissions: Ensure you have the necessary access to edit or delete budgets.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Editing a Budget or Subbudget

  1. Navigate to your project and access the Cost Module
  2. Click on Budgets tab
  3. Find the budget or subbudget you want to edit
  4. Click on the three dots (...) menu next to the budget/subbudget
  5. Select Edit Budget or Edit Subbudget
  6. Update the necessary details
  7. Once all changes are made, click Save to apply the edits

Step 2: Deleting a Budget or Subbudget

  1. Navigate to the Budgets tab in your project
  2. Find the budget or subbudget you wish to delete
  3. Click on the three dots (...) menu next to the budget/subbudget
  4. Select Delete Budget or Delete Subbudget
  5. Confirm deletion by clicking Delete in the confirmation dialog

Tip: You cannot delete a Budget that has Adjustments, Forecasts. Line Items, Allocations, Risks and Sub-Budgets against it. These must be moved or deleted to delete the budget.

Note: Once a budget is deleted, it cannot be undone. If needed, you will have to recreate it manually.

Troubleshooting

Cannot Edit or Delete Budget/Subbudget

  • Symptom: Unable to edit or delete a budget/subbudget.
  • Cause: Lack of permissions or project restrictions.
  • Solution: Ensure you have the correct permissions and check for any project restrictions.

Changes Not Saving

  • Symptom: Edits aren't saving.
  • Cause: Missing required fields or session issues.
  • Solution: Fill out all fields and click Save. Try refreshing or logging back in if the problem persists.
